IRM Accredits Academy of Risk Management Malaysia’s Level 1: Certificate in Risk Management, Strengthening Collaboration in Malaysia
IRM course accreditation offers employers the opportunity to have their risk management course(s) formally recognised. Courses may be either classroom/workshop-based or e-learning. They can be of any length and delivered anywhere in the world. They need to be directly relevant to the training needs of risk managers or those requiring training in risk management.
Senior ARiMM representatives signed a formal agreement with the IRM setting out the conditions attached to the accreditation of the training programme at ARiMM’s conference, marking a new phase of collaboration to enhance risk management education in Malaysia. The signing was conducted at the recent ARiMM conference in KL attended by Stephen Sidebottom, IRM Chairman who also participated in a fireside chat with ARRiM Chair Abdul Halim Bin Jantan.
The newly IRM accredited programme is structured around ISO 31000, the internationally accepted framework for risk management, equipping learners with foundational principles to identify, assess, and mitigate risk effectively within corporate environments. This accreditation follows a rigorous evaluation process by IRM to ensure that the course meets the highest standards of quality, relevance, and industry fit.
Stephen Sidebottom, Chair of IRM, comments:
“Risk management is fundamental to business resilience in an increasingly complex world. As the leading global authority in ERM, IRM is committed to ensuring professionals across the world have access to qualifications that reflect international best practice.
Accrediting ARiMM’s programme represents a significant step forward in strengthening risk education in Malaysia, providing professionals with the expertise and credentials needed to navigate today’s challenges effectively.”
Abdul Halim Bin Jantan, Chair of ARiMM, emphasises the importance of this collaboration:
“This accreditation is a key milestone in ARiMM’s ongoing partnership with IRM, formalised through our recent signing. By integrating ISO 31000 standards into our curriculum and achieving IRM accreditation, we are ensuring that Malaysian risk practitioners gain globally recognised competencies while maintaining practical relevance to the local market.
This collaboration strengthens the foundation for a more risk-intelligent workforce, helping businesses build resilience and make informed decisions in an increasingly uncertain environment.”
The Level 1: Certificate in Risk Management covers fundamental risk management principles, methodologies, and strategic applications, equipping professionals with essential tools to understand and manage uncertainty.
This partnership is a key step in bridging global ERM standards with Malaysia’s evolving business landscape, ensuring professionals receive internationally recognised training that is both practical and future focused.
The collaboration underscores the commitment of both organisations in cultivating a highly skilled and risk-intelligent workforce that meets the demands of modern businesses – with a view to conducting further collaborative initiatives between the two organisations.
